MINUTES

 

Shari Argue, co-chair, welcomed everyone and asked members to introduce themselves. 

ICAP Update: 

Ilene Sparber reported about recent changes at St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth and Families. They currently have 3 slots for homeless young women and babies and one slot specifically for a MontgomeryCountyresident. They take women ages 13-19 and they have state-accredited school and child care center on their grounds. Women can stay 18-24 months. They prefer referrals come from service providers; contact Peggy Gatewood at Peggy.Gatewood@stanns.org or 301-559-5500.

Membership Information and Updates

Cornelia Gregory, Child Care Subsidies – Still working off wait list.

Jose Luis Diaz, CCI/WIC – CCI is opening a new health center in the Franklin Park area ofGreenbeltin late July. There will be a co-location of medical, dental and behavioral health services. They hope to serve over 6,000 children and adults.

Lisa Euliss, WIC – new income guidelines as of April 13 (see attached).  Refer people since they have space for new applicants. Remind people that they do not check citizenship status.

Jane Larsen, Improved Pregnancy Outcomes, FIMR/CAT – Pre-conception health will continue to be a major priority for FIMR. Also, promoting the Safe to Sleep campaign.

Giselle Pautrat, TAYA – They continue all services throughout the summer. Also,Gaithersburgwill continue to be open on Thursdays.

Christine Evans Johnson, DHMH – State Youth Advisory Council, required by Title V, will be holding focus groups in Baltimore and other counties.

Shari Argue,LourieCenter– They invited graduates as well as current participants to this year’s Spring event. It was a great success! Goal is to increase involvement of fathers.  Next year’s Commission on Children and Youth will be holding their Youth Roundtable on the MCPS sex ed curriculum.

Saundra Jackson, AAHP/SMILE – They had 15 moms and 9 dads participate in the spring classes. Next classes in October.

Gail Hoelscher, MCPS ESOL counselor – Happy to be able to attend since they refer so many students to ICAP members.
